The problems with LinkedIn

LinkedIn (NYSELNKD) (play /ˌlɪŋkt.ˈɪn/) is a social networking website for people in professional occupations. Founded in December 2002 and launched on May 5, 2003,[4] it is mainly used for professional networking. As of June 2012, LinkedIn reports more than 175 million registered users in more than 200 countries and territories.[4]

The site is available in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, Dutch, Swedish, Romanian, Russian, Turkish, Japanese, Czech, Polish, Korean, Indonesian, and Malay.[5][6] Quantcast reports LinkedIn has 21.4 million monthly unique U.S. visitors and 47.6 million globally.[7] In June 2011, LinkedIn had 33.9 million unique visitors, up 63 percent from a year earlier and surpassing MySpace.[8] LinkedIn filed for an initial public offering in January 2011 and traded its first shares on May 19, 2011, under the NYSE symbol “LNKD”.[9]

As I mentioned in my feedback to LinkedIn, you have a great platform but you do not know how to monetised it, doing the wrong things can be very frustrating for users, especially your subscription packages does not attract, you need a revamp on the principles of your users needs, and everybody will jump on your bandwagon. Your external apps is too limited, you need to work with developers to expand it, once you correctly price your products and the simplicity of use, recruiters, job seekers, marketers, professionals, CEO, CTO, even Directors and researchers will flock to your platform, I have already given you clues how to segregate your audience to correctly priced your subscriptions, trying to create your own search is great if you have a completed product but you don’t, it can be really a tool to greatly enhance your platform if you use it as a module for a plugin, “guaranteed response” can be better targeted if you give benefits to people to share their response and experiences, finally, if you could maximise your platform to be truly open, you could also allow researchers to link to special database for subscription to articles for research work and contributions, when you have arrived the potential will be a tripling of your present audience.
