In June 2012 when the server lease was ending, TR Emeritus (TRE) started a donation drive to raise US$50,000 (LINK) to keep TRE going until June 2013.
However, as best as the team@TRE tried to raise the US$50,000 for its yearly operating expenses, we only managed to raise 1/3 of the amount. Fortunately for TRE, with the support of advertisers and the editors, we managed to cover the shortfall and renewed our servers’ lease to March 2013.
The team@TRE hopes to raise the target US$50,000 again so that we can continue to operate the website for another year, after our current lease expires in March 2013.
On average, we are spending about US$4K a month to maintain TRE’s our website. The cost includes server leases, dedicated bandwidth, fully managed support, incidentals like proactive DDoS mitigation, WordPress theme customization, server optimization and hardware upgrading (if necessary) for its three clustered servers.
TRE now serves an average of 50,000 visitors a day, generating close to 1 million page views – a 100% overall increase compared to when TRE was revived in Dec 2011.
With that said, we would like to appeal to readers who share our beliefs to please contribute towards TRE’s cause.
TRE is not a sociopolitical site that belongs merely to the editors. It’s a site by Singaporeans for the betterment of Singapore. It belongs to Singaporeans who care about Singapore.
The team@TRE are sacrificing much time and money trying our best to keep this non-profit sociopolitical site running. So, please do your part if you can financially afford it.
Thank you for your support.
What you require is to have separate DNS servers both in Singapore and the US, and a 24/7 365 days monitoring of your websites, so that when the DNS server goes down it will be automatically switched by the administrators, and programming to delete all temporary files from the browser once a user leaves the website, this will save more than 3/4 your present costs, you pay for expertise for programmers to fully customised your websites for security purposes. I can even teach the administrators to throttle your bandwidth according to demand, you can easily scale up or down your servers at anytime, money can be utilised for other purposes, even employing full time employers/editors to contribute articles.
